5 Tips to Pass your Undergraduate Thesis Defense

July 21, 2021

I will share some tips that I am. Sure that it will help you in some ways to become ready and surpass your thesis defense.

I am not a professional when it comes to researches or theses, and my thoughts and tips are some of my experiences that I wanted to share.

1. Know your Study

First, you need to study well and gather many references about your topic. You’re the author of it, so you’re the only one who can defend it to the panelist. You also have to take down notes on every progress or methodology you’re making to finish your research/thesis.

2. Get support from the latest articles references.

Get support from the latest articles or literature. Do massive research about your topic, collect every data that you’ll be needing to support your methods and results. Proper citation of the authors is very much needed.

In defense, every piece of information your reporting and every data your defending must have proper and reliable supporting references.

3. Results must be detailed and properly discussed

You may use images, charts, tables, and columns for more detailed and well-presented results and discussion. Photos must be clear and meaningful. Don’t put data that you can not explain and defend.

4. Prepare all things needed for the defense

To avoid interruption and panic, you must be prepared not only mentally but also physically and spiritually.

Print the materials needed, buy some food for the panelist, give them the final copy of your paper, get ready for your PowerPoint presentation, be confident because you know better than the panelist. It’s your research/thesis that you worked on for many months-years.

5. Be straightforward

Take a deep breath and be ready. Powerpoint must be clean and straightforward yet informative. Don’t be too wordy in your presentation. Just explain the point right away.

These are the five tips that I can give you to pass your undergraduate thesis defense. I’ve used these five, and I passed. Knowing and understanding your study is very important to defend your work. Everything is in your hands, so Good Luck!!
